
An Introduction to Soma Pill
The drug Soma Pill
is a prescription medication that received approval from the FDA in the year
2007 for the treatment of muscle pain and acute pain in adults. The generic
name of this drug is Carisoprodol. This pain medication treats muscle soreness,
muscle cramps, knee injuries, neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain etc. It is a
medication not recommended for people below the age of 18 years.
This pain
medication has been declared as a controlled substance (schedule IV) by
the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) under the Controlled Substances Act. Soma pill
is not for recreational use. Also, one must never take them without consulting
a doctor. Pregnant women must consult a doctor before taking this pain
medication. This drug is not recommended for breastfeeding women as it can harm
their nursing infant.
How should you use Soma Pill?
- · You can use soma pill either before food or after having your food. Take the tablets orally with a glass of water. Never consume this pain med however with products that can have sedative effects on you. These products include alcohol or street drugs etc.
- · Certain drugs can have interactions with Carisoprodol if you use them together. So, you must provide a detailed list of all the medications and products that you are consuming at present to your doctor. This will help to know if the drugs you are taking at present are really safe for use if used along with the Soma Pill treatment.
- · Generally for a period of 2-3 weeks, this pain medication is prescribed. So, do not consume this pain medication for a period longer than the mentioned time.
- · For the treatment of muscle spasms, doctors advise adults to take 250-350 mg of this product for around 3 times in a day and once before going to bed. Do not use the pills in large amounts.
- · Do inform your doctor if you have high blood pressure, a prior addiction to drugs or alcohol, heart disease, a history of mood or mental illnesses (hallucinations, confusion, nervousness, depression, anxiety, etc.), liver or kidney disease etc.
- · Store the drug at room temperature in a cool and dry place that is totally far away from your children or your pets’ reach.
- · Never share this pain medication with any other people. Carisoprodol is an addictive substance which can be life-threatening if people misuse it. People with a prior substance use disorder are more likely to make a wrong use of this product.
- · If you have a genetic enzyme disorder known as porphyria, do not use Carisoprodol.
What if you miss a dose?
You may sometimes forget to take a dose according to the
schedule you have set. In such a case, take the pill as you remember but make
sure that there is sufficient gap until you take the next dose. If it is almost
time for you to take the next dose, skip the one you have forgotten to take and
return back to your original dosing schedule. Do not use an extra pill of this
medication to make up for the missed dose.
